Loss
Even the smallest loss can lead to a big reaction. Love and grief go hand in hand. Losing something or someone is emotionally challenging for everyone and we are often unprepared for such a loss.
Home is an important place where we feel protected from the outside world; it is our main source of security. Threats to our security and changes in our lives and the lives of our family and friends give space to reactions associated with loss and grief. Traumatic experience associated with loss and underestimating our feelings can cause us to supress negative emotions.
And since loss and grief are complex sets of emotions which are linked to our childhood experiences and attachments, and are therefore very personal, I would recommend that those struggling to overcome any kind of loss, seek out a therapist to help them to manage their emotions while they move on toward accepting the changes in their lives.
